Who We Are?
Our family-run business has a long tradition in the drinks industry. My father Ken worked for twenty years in the brewing and distilling business & has stepped forward as product developer & business partner.
I am Craig and I founded Mother's Ruin 1751 in July 2018, We pride ourselves on providing outstanding customer service, excellent product knowledge. We have developed the business and now have expanded into weddings & event planning.
Cornish Blue Flamingo
My passion for Gin began whilst I was serving in the Royal Navy, and funnily enough ‘grew legs' during the Royal wedding of the Duke of Sussex to his wife the Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan. Mother's Ruin 1751 was founded in July 2018 when I had my sight set to create my very own gin!
However, I believed that introducing my Gin Flights and gaining the knowledge and experience of the local gin world first would give me a better understanding of what type of Gin I would like to create, and over time Cornish Blue Flamingo was born!
The Blue Flamingo
A Blue Flamingo is rare, beautiful and mythical. Therefore, this gin contains unusual and scarce botanicals. Some of these botanicals are found growing in my own garden, and some of these are sourced from the area where we live, such as Black Bee Honey produced on Rame peninsula. But one is externally sourced and that is the amazing antioxidant Açai berry from South America, Brazil.
Cornish Blue Flamingo is a very meaningful name and involves the legend of the blue flamingo as well as the luck that is granted if you spot one! Most flamingos are pink, rarely are they blue, which in turn is why I simply chose to call it 'Cornish Blue Flamingo Gin' to channel the luck of the legend!
